The wellness standard is one treatment per month in order to maintain health and relaxation. This assumes there are no particular health issues, and is a good guide.

Visits have to be measured by each individual response. You might find you need to schedule 1-2 times a week for a short time and then decrease as your condition improves.

Once a week is not unusual, and can encourage chronic conditions to begin mending themselves. Every one responds differently. And often people get very dramatic results with just one visit.

Or to put it another way...

It all depends on your reasons for wanting a reflexology treatment. If you are in good health, and are looking to maintain wellness, a monthly treatment is recommended to keep your body in balance. However, if you are seeking treatment for chronic or acute conditions, then frequency and length of treatments will change.

Every person is an individual. Reactions and outcomes will vary.

I've included a link to an article which is along the lines of this topic.

Note the dramatic difference in results with reflexology when sessions are scheduled closer together.

http://www.calmbyleslie.com/reflexology/

Stay healthy.

Visit Total Health with Reflexology

104 South Mill Street, Linden Tennessee

Relax - Unwind - Heal

Take the time to relax, your feet. Each have individual and unique benefits.
Reflexology Uses the hands and fingers to make small movements with varying amounts of pressure on the hands. feet and lower leg. Reflexology benefits the entire body and internal organs by way of the nervous system. And, is recognised to benefit the body internally, while massage is considered to be more topical (working the surface of the body).

Massage, on the other hand can be done with the hands, elbows, arms and sometimes even feet and uses much bigger sweeping motion. It is applied over the entire body and requires clients to undress. Massage benefits the area that is touched such as working out tension in the shoulder, where as Reflexology benefits the entire body just by working on the feet.

Rejuvenate your body through Reflexology

Visit Total Health with Reflexology

104 South Mill Street, Linden Tennessee

Relax - Unwind - Heal

Take the time to relax, your feet. Reflexology deals with pressure points on the feet that correspond to distinct and various parts of the body.

Myth- A Reflexologist can diagnose specific illness through the feet.

Fact- There can be many underlying causes for imbalances manifesting themselves in the feet. We do not diagnose and always suggest you work closely with your medical doctor or appropriate health care provider. Reflexology supports overall well-being which enables your body to concentrate healing energies where they are needed.

Myth- Reflexology only involves the feet and has to be painful in order to work.

Fact- Reflexology can be practiced on but is not limited to the feet, hands, head and ears and need not be painful. Even gentle pressure by the practitioner can result in stress reduction, relaxation and improved circulation.

Myth- There is no scientific proof that Reflexology works.

Fact- Currently, there are more than 300 research studies worldwide documenting effectiveness of Reflexology, including a landmark study on PMS that was published in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Journal on December 1993. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8233263?dopt=AbstractPlus

Reflexology is both an art and a science. It originated from European Zone Therapy, and was then refined in the US by noted health care professionals. The foot is quite sensitive and responds well to Reflexology, having over 7000 nerve endings. Reflexology can negate the effects of stress, which is a major contributor to modern disease, and gently nudge the body toward better health. For more than a century, an international array of scientific work has validated Reflexology and it's effectiveness. And is gaining recognition and acceptance of scientist and health care professionals as a valid complement to conventional medicine.

Visit Total Health with Reflexology

104 South Mill Street, Linden Tennessee

Relax - Unwind - Heal

Take the time to relax, your feet. One of the major benefits of Reflexology is in helping the body to normalize. Where a gland, organ or system is out of kilter, Reflexology encourages the bodies systems to come back to balance.

Reflexology works with most any medical therapy or physician. I believe that health and healing is God's will no matter what avenue it comes from. Conventional medicine and Reflexology often work extremely well together. It can not make anything worse, and serves to bring our bodies back to balance.

Reflexology is more than just a relaxing foot rub, and gives you time to de-stress. 80% or more of modern disease can be traced back to stress. So taking the time to wind down, take it easy and have your feet "worked on" can lead to big health benefits. Many clients report reduced pain, increased flexibility, reduction in swelling and a general increase in well-being.

Here is one definition of Reflexology from "Success at the last resort, the path to recovery, foot reflexology":

"Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers on these reflex areas. Reflexology relieves stress and tension, improves nerve and blood supply, and helps nature to normalize the body."

Vistit Total Health with Reflexology

104 South Mill Street, Linden Tennessee

Relax - Unwind - Heal

Research Supports Reflexology

Thought you might enjoy this article.

Foot Reflexology Research
Research supports the use of foot reflexology
© Sylvia Carlson

Jan 28, 2007

Reflexology research studies help to support the many claims and benefits of this healing art.

http://reflexology.suite101.com/article.cfm/foot_reflexology_research
